Tamegroute’s green pottery is also very well known. The founders of the religious brotherhood Nasiriyya wanted to raise the status of the village of Tamegroute to that of a ‘Medina’, that is to say to make it a city. They assembled the merchants and craftsmen that they had brought from Fes, a city that enjoyed good relations with Tamegroute at the time. However, today Tamegroute is a little village again, but the pottery has become its main characteristic. Except for a few ochre shades, a green glaze is the dominant colour in pottery from Tamegroute. As with Fes Zelliges, and even more so, the ancient techniques give the glaze infinite variations. DAY 4: ZAGORA – DRAA VALLEY – MARRAKECH

Today we drive to Marrakech from the Draa valley,
In older sources mostly Darha or Dara), is Morocco’s longest river, 1,100 kilometres (680 mi). It is formed by the confluence of the Dadès River and Imini River. It flows from the High Atlas mountains south-(east)ward to Tagounit and from Tagounit mostly westwards to the Atlantic Ocean somewhat north of Tan-Tan. Most of the year the part of the Draa after Tagounit falls dry. Zagora is a town in the valley of the Draa River in Souss-Massa-Drâa, southeastern Morocco. It is flanked by the mountain Zagora from which the town got its name. Originally it was called ‘Tazagourt’ the singular of plural ‘Tizigirt’, Berber for ‘twinpeaks’, referring to the fortress of the Murabitun, or Almoravid, people. In old European maps the mountain Zagora is already indicated but the town itself was only built in the 20th century. On the top of the Zagora mountain the remains of an Almoravid fortress can still be seen. The exact location of the former Almoravid mosque is still a matter of dispute. Each year the moussem (festival) of the Sufi saint moulay Abdelkader Jilali is celebrated at Zagora. Languages spoken in the city include Moroccan Arabic, Tachelhit and Tamazight. A well known sign at the town border states ‘Tombouctou 52 days’, the supposed time it takes to get to Timbuktu, Mali on foot or camel. drive to Marrakech via the Anti Atlas Mountains of Saghrou, arrive to Marrakech in the afternoon.

Tour Accommdation

Tour accommodation

On your Iconic Morocco Tour, you will be staying exclusively in four-star hotels and Riads. But not all four-star hotels are the same. We know and trust the accommodation providers we use, and we choose them carefully based not only on their star rating but also on their location, service, value and character. With 15 years of experience in the industry, we have the knowledge, the experience and the local contacts to design the perfect accommodation package for your vacation.

We are very selective in getting just the right accommodation for each specific tour, and we are very proud of the selection of hotels we have put together. Some of these hotels are family-owned, just like ourselves, and we have a long-standing relationship with them all.

Tour Vehicles

Tour Vehicles
On a tour vacation, the journey can be just as important as the destination. That's why our tour vehicles are all of the highest standards, both in terms of luxury and reliability.

We choose our tour vehicles carefully. All our tour buses offer plenty of space to spread out, tinted windows, air conditioning and Seat belts. It's what you should expect.

We deliberately leave some seats empty. In fact, we use 18-seater Mini Buses, but limit the number of participants to 15. That's because we want all of our guests to be able to spread out, relax and enjoy the journey. This smaller group size is a core principle in our tours.

Please note: the vehicles shown in the gallery is the one used on our tours for max. from 2 to 15 guests. For any reason, should one of these become unavailable for your tour, we will endeavour to provide an equally luxurious and comfortable vehicle.

Magical Moroccan tour ( Areta W )

Morocco Premium Tours is the best tour company in Morocco. You can find many tours and they are good but there is one thing that makes them the best: the tour is tailored to fit your needs. When we went to Morocco, we were only there for 4 days and Morocco Premium Tours contoured a tour to maximize our time in Morocco.

Wonderful trip with a great tour guide

We engaged with this small local family company to organize a 6 day tour from Rabat to Fez and Marrakech, based on good reviews we had read on line. We had family members joining us at different times and a change of plans at one point, so was somewhat complicated. Khaled worked with us from the planning stage beginning several months in advance through to the completion of the tour. He traveled with us and had local guides waiting for us at each point, and was available to sort out any complications or additional requests throughout. He was entirely flexible and beyond helpful throughout our time with him. We have lovely memories that we will cherish for a lifetime.
